Brigid Brophy

Brigid Antonia Brophy, Lady Levey (Bridžit Brofi, 12. jun, 1929, u Londonu – 7. avgust, 1995, u Louthu) bila je engleska spisateljica, esejistkinja, kritičarka, biografkinja i dramaturškinja. U "Rečniku književnih biografija: Britanski romanopisci od 1960", S. J. Newman je opisuje kao "jedan od najčudnijih, najbriljantnijih i najistrajnijih simptoma 1960-ih."

Bila je feministkinja i pacifistkinja, koja je često izražavala kontroverzne stavove prema braku, Vijetnamskom ratu, religijskom obrazovanju u školama, seksu (ona je bila otvoreno biseksualna) i o pornografiji. Bila je glasna u kampanjama za prava životinja i zagovarala je vegetarijanstvo. Psiholog Richard D. Ryder je ocenio da je njen članak iz Sunday Times-a, iz 1965. godine označio početak pokreta za prava životanja u Engleskoj.

Brophy je bila udata za istoričara umetnosti, Sir Michael Levey. Godine 1984. dijagnostifikovana joj je multipla skleroza, a 11 godina kasnije je izvršila samoubistvo.
