Paul Copan (Cleveland, 26. 9. 1962. – ), američki filozof, teolog i akademik, jedan od istaknutih predstavnika suvremene kršćanske apologetike.
Biografija[uredi | uredi kod]
Copan je rođen 1962. u Clevelandu, u porodici ukrajinskog porijekla koja svoje korijene vuče iz latvijske Rige. Pohađao je Međunarodni univerzitet Columbia u gradu Columbiji gdje je studirao biblijske studije i 1984. stekao titulu prvostupnika. Daljnje obrazovanje nastavio je na Međunarodnom univerzitetu Trinity u Deerfieldu i 1987. magistrirao filozofiju religije, odnosno 1988. teologiju. Doktorat filozofije stekao je 2000. na Univerzitetu Marquette u Milwaukeeu (disertacija: "Moralne dimenzije ateologije Michaela Martina: kritička procjena", engl. The Moral Dimensions of Michael Martin’s Atheology: A Critical Assessment). Akademsku karijeru Copan je ostvario na Trinityju u Deerfieldu, Koledžu Georgia Perimeter u Atlanti, te Univerzitetu Palm Beach Atlantic u West Palm Beachu. Copan je napisao i uredio ukupno tridesetak monografija na temu filozofije religije, etike, sistematske teologije, odnosa religije i nauke, te epistemologije. Njegove knjige prevođene su na portugalski, španski, ruski, korejski i indonežanski jezik. Copan također redovno doprinosi za naučne časopise kao što su Philosophia Christi, Faith and Philosophy, Trinity Journal, Southern Journal of Theology, Journal for the Evangelical Theological Society i The Review of Metaphysics.
