Hugo Gernsback (16. august 1884 – 19. august 1967), rođen kao Hugo Gernsbacher, bio je američki izumitelj, pisac, urednik i izdavač rodom iz Luksemburga, najpoznatiji po pokretanju prvog science fiction časopisa. Njegov doprinos žanru kao urednik je bio takav, da ga se zajedno sa piscima H. G. Wellsom i Julesom Verneom, ponekad naziva jednim od "očeva naučne fantastike".[1] Njemu u počast, godišnje nagrade koje se dijele na konvenciji World Science Fiction Convention su dobile ime "Hugo".[2]
