Hitin sintaza (EC 2.4.1.16, hitin-UDP N-acetilglukozaminiltransferaza, hitin-uridin difosfat acetilglukozaminiltransferaza, hitin sintetaza, trans-N-acetilglukozaminozilaza, UDP-N-acetil-D-glukozamin:hitin 4-beta-N-acetilglukozaminil-transferaza) je enzim sa sistematskim imenom UDP-N-acetil-alfa-D-glukozamin:hitin 4-beta-N-acetilglukosaminiltransferaza.[1][2] Ovaj enzim katalizuje sledeću hemijsku reakciju
- UDP-N-acetil-alfa-D-glukozamin + [4)-N-acetil-beta-D-glukozaminil-(1->]n UDP + [4)-N-acetil-beta-D-glukozaminil-(1->]n+1
Ovaj enzim konvertuje UDP-N-acetil-alfa-D-glukozamin u hitin i UDP.
