Mahmud od Ghaznija (perzijski: محمود غَزنوی / Maḥmūd-e Ġaznawī; 2. novembar 971 – 30. april 1030), pravim imenom Yamīn ad-Dawlah Abdul-Qāṣim Maḥmūd Ibn Sebüktegīn, bio je najvažniji vladar Gaznavidske dinastije koji je od 997. do 1030. vladao istočnim dijelom Iranskih zemalja i sjeverozapadom Indijskog podkontinenta. Mahmud je nekadašnji provincijsko sjedište Ghazni u današnjem Afganistan pretvorio u bogato središte velikog carstva čija je teritorija sadržavala najveći dio današnjeg Afganistana, istočni Iran, kao i Pakistan i sjeverozapadnu Indiju. Bio je prvi vladar s titulom sultan ("autoritet"), s kojim je nastojao prikazati svoju vlast, a istovremeno očuvati ideološku vezu, odnosno nominalno sizerenstvo kalifa.
