Sulfoacetaldehid dehidrogenaza (EC 1.2.1.73, SafD) je enzim sa sistematskim imenom 2-sulfoacetaldehid:NAD+ oksidoreduktaza.[1] Ovaj enzim katalizuje sledeću hemijsku reakciju
- 2-sulfoacetaldehid +H2O + NAD+ sulfoacetat + NADH + 2 H+
Ova reakcija je deo bakterijskog puta koji koristi amino grupu taurina kao jedini izvor azota za rast. Pri fiziološkim koncentracijama, NAD+ ne može da bude zamenjen sa NADP+. Ovaj enzim je specifičan za sulfoacetaldehid, dok formaldehid, acetaldehid, betain aldehid, propanal, gliceraldehid, fosfonoacetaldehid, glioksilat, glikolaldehid i 2-oksobutirat nisu supstrati.
