Divizija je samostalna velika vojna formacija u sklopu korpusa. Namjenski podijeljena (brdska, udarna itd.), može biti motorizirana, oklopna, djelimično motorizirana ili pješadijska.[1]
Sastavljena je od nekoliko regimenti ili brigada. Po pravilu, brojna jačina divizije je od 10.000 do 30.000 vojnika. U ratnim uslovima djeluje decentralno i samostalno.[2][3]
