N6-Metiladenozin (m6A ) je često prisutan u iRNK i prisutan je u nekim virusima,[4][5] i većini eukariota uključujući sisare,[6][7][8][9] insekte,[10] biljke[11][12][13] i kvasce.[14][15] On je takoše nađen u tRNK, rRNK, i snRNK kao i u nekoliko dugo kodirajućih RNK, poput Xist.[16][17]
