Karoten epsilon-monooksigenaza (EC 1.14.99.45, CYP97C1, LUT1) je enzim sa sistematskim imenom alfa-karoten:kiseonik oksidoreduktaza (3-hidroksilacija).[1][2] Ovaj enzim katalizuje sledeću hemijsku reakciju
- alfa-karoten + O2 + AH2 alfa-kriptoksantin + A + H2O
Ovaj enzim je hem-tiolatni protein. On takođe deluje na zeinoksantin i formira lutein.
