Zajednica je oblik udruživanja ljudi unutar nekog, manje ili više, ograničenog prostora. Kao pojedinci, članovi različitih društvenih grupa i institucija, ljudi stupaju u različite socijalne interakcije, okupljajući se oko zajedničkih vrednosti, potreba, interesa, problema, razvijajući osećanje pripadnosti i identifikacije sa kolektivom i preduzimajući organizovane akcije za zadovoljavanje ličnih i zajedničkih potreba. U pojmu zajednice mogu se identifikovati pet sledećih zajedničkih elemenata: ljudski kolektiv, prostor, zajedničke potrebe, socijalna interakcija, zajedničke aktivnosti (akcije) i osećanje pripadnosti.[1][2]
