Leslie Poles Hartley (30.12. 1895 – 13.12. 1972.) bio je britanski pisac, poznat po romanima i novelama. Njegovo najpozantije djelo je The Go-Between, koje je 1971. godine adaptirano u film u režiji Harolda Pintera. Dio uvodne rečenice romana 'prošlost je strana zemlja: tamo drukčije rade stvari' je postala svojevrsna poslovica u Engleskoj.
