Deutsch: „Das Stadtwappen zeigt im goldenen, von einem blauen Balken geteilten Schilde oben links Schlegel und Eisen in blau, rechts einen blauen, aufrecht stehenden Löwen, unten den gleichen Löwen; der Balken in der Mitte trägt ein goldenes, schrägrechts gerichtetes Blatt.“
English: „The arms were granted in 1936 and are based on the seal of Gowsin von Ailstorp, dating from 1439. The only change is the addition of the miner's tools, as a symbol for the mining activities in the municipality. The colours are arbitrarily chosen in 1936."
