Sounder je američki igrani film snimljen 1972. godine u režiji Martina Ritta. Predstavlja adaptaciju istoimenog romana William H. Armstronga. Radnja se događa u Louisiani 1933. godine i prikazuje kako se jedna crnačka porodica nastoji boriti za preživljavanje u uvjetima Velike depresije. Film u kome je jednu od uloga igrao poznati muzičar Taj Mahal je izazvao veliku pažnju zbog toga što je, za razliku od izuzetno popularnih blaxploitation filmova promovirao tradicionalne porodične vrijednosti. Postigao je uspjeh i kod publike i kod kritike, a četiri godine kasnije je snimljen nastavak pod naslovom Part 2, Sounder.
