Merle Robert Travis (29. novembar 1917 – 20. oktobar 1983) je bio američki country pjevač i kantautor, poznat po tzv. fingerstyle stilu sviranja gitare, ali i po pjesmama inspiriranim vlastitim životnim iskustvima vezanim uz rudnike ugljena u rodnom Kentuckyju. Među pjesmama mu se najviše ističu Dark as Dungeon, Re-enlistment Blues i socijalno angažirana Sixteen Tons.
