Lyman Frank Baum (15. maj 1856 – 5. maj 1919) bio je američki pisac, pjesnik, dramatičar, glumac i filmaš, danas najpoznatiji po tome što je zajedno s ilustratorom W. W. Denslowom bio tvorac znamenitog romana za djecu Čarobnjak iz Oza. Baum je napisao trinaest nastavaka tog romana, devet drugih fantasy romana te imao izuzetno plodan opus (55 romana, 82 priče, preko 200 pjesama, nepoznat broj drama i scenarija, kao i novinskih članaka), od kojih je mnoge nastojao adaptirati za teatar, a kasnije za film.
