Sveti Bonifacije (latinski: Bonifacius) (c. 680 – 5 June 755 [1][2]), Apostol Nijemcima, rođen kao Winfrid, Wynfrith ili Wynfryth u kraljevini Wessex (najvjerojatnije Crediton u današnjoj engleskoj grofoviji Devon), bio je misionar koji je širio kršćanstvo u Franačkom Kraljevstvu tokom 8. vijeku. Bio je prvi nadbiskup Mainza, a danas se slavi kao svetac-zaštitnik Njemačke. Godine 755. je ubijen u Friziji zajedno sa još 52 ljudi. Njegovi ostaci su kasnije preneseni u Fuldu, gdje je njegov sarkofag postao mjestom hodočašća. Bonifacijev život i smrt su postali predmetom brojnih tekstova, pogotovo hagiografija među kojima se ističe Vita Bonifatii auctore Willibaldi, a iza sebe je ostavio i bogatu korespondeciju, kao i niz pravnih dokumenata.
