John Jakes

John Jakes

John William Jakes (također poznat i po pseudonimu Jay Scotland, Chicago, 31. mart 1932 -) je američki književnik, poznat po historijskim romanima.

Jakes je počeo pisati za pulp magazine tokom studija, a nakon magisterija engleske književnosti na The Ohio State University radio u reklamnoj agenciji, povremeno pišući djela iz žanra vesterna, epske fantastike i SF-a. Godine 1971. se u potpunosti posvetio pisanju. Krajem 1970-ih je objavio seriju knjiga The Kent Family Chronicles koja opisuje život jedne američke porodice od doba rata za nezavisnost do kraja 19. vijeka. Ona je postala bestseler, isto kao i trilogija romana North & South iz 1980-ih posvećena građanskom ratu.
