Karl Friedrich Benz (25.11. 1844. - 4.4. 1929.) je njemački inženjer poznat po tome što je zajedno s Gottliebom Daimlerom napravio motor s unutrašnjim sagorijevanjem. Godine 1885. je napravio prvi automobil pokretan motorom s unutrašnjim sagorijevanjem što se smatra početkom automobilistike. Po njemu je nazvan benzin.
