Šablon:Taxobox Zingiberales je red tropskih monokotiledonih biljaka, koji obuhvata 92 biljna roda i oko 2111 vrsta^[1]. Karakterišu ih odsustvo stabla, sem u vreme cvetanja, velike dimenzije brakteja i zigomorfnih cvetova, potcvetan plodnik, plod tipa čahure, semena sa arilusom i niz zajedničkih biohemijskih i genetičkih sličnosti^[1]. Uopštena cvetna formula reda glasi $\downarrow \;K_{(3)}\;C_{(3)}\;A_{5-6}\;{\overline {G_{3}}}$

Značaj biljaka reda Zingiberales

Red obuhvata poznate začinske vrste — đumbir (Zingiber officinale), kardamom (Elattaria cardamomum), kurkuma (Curcuma domestica). Takođe, neke od vrsta ovog reda su veoma cenjene kao ukrasne biljke (poput vrsta familije Strelitziaceae). Najveći značaj za ljude imaju biljke iz familije banana (Musaceae), čiji se plodovi koriste u ishrani. Vrsta Musa textilis (abaka) se uzgaja radi dobijanja celuloznih vlakana iz listova, koja se koriste u industriji.

Sistemi klasifikacije

U ranijim klasifikacionim shemama skrivenosemenica (Wettstein 1935, Engler 1964) kao naziv za ovu grupu biljaka korišćen je opisni botanički naziv Scitamineae. U savremenim sistemima klasifikacije (Kronkvistov sistem 1981, Dahlgren, APG 1998, APG II 2003) red Zingiberales obuhvata sledećih osam familija:

U Tahtadžanovom sistemu (Takhtajan 1997^[2]) ovde opisanom redu Zingiberales odgovara nadred Zingiberanae, koji obuhvata 4 reda i 8 gore pomenutih familija:
