Jayapala
Jayapala Janjua Shahi ili, jednostavno, Jayapalla (? - 1001), bio je hinduski kralj i osnivač dinastije Hindushahi koja je vladala današnjim Afganistanom i sjeverozapadnim Pakistanom.[1] Oko godine 964. je naslijedio Brahman Shahi kralja Bhimadevu, a s njegovim dolaskom na prijestolje je počela Janjua Rajput faza Shahiya dinastija.[1] . Jayapala je smatrao da njegovom kraljevstvu prijeti opasnost od turskih muslimanskih vladara u Ghazni, te je to uporište napadao i pod vlašžćui Sebuk Tigina i pod vlašću njegovog sina sultana Mahmuda Gaznevija, čime su započele dugotrajne borbe Gaznavida i Hindušajija.[2] Sebuk Tigin je porazio i prisilio na plaćanje danka. [2] Nakon što je prestao plaćati danak, došlo je do sukoba u kome je poražen i u kome je izgubio zemlje od Kabula do doline Inda.[3] Godine 1001. je nastojao iskoristiti zauzetost Mahmuda sa napadom Karahanida, ali je poražen kod Pešavara. Tada se dao spaliti na lomači, držeći da je porazom obeščastio svoju dinastiju.[2]
