Insulin lispro je rekombinantni analog ljudskog insulina proizveden pomoću specializovane laboratorijske vrste bakterija Escherichia coli. Plasmidna DNK je kodira analogu ljudskog insulina koji ima lizin u poziciji B28 i prolin u B29. Ti ostaci imaju suprotni redosled u endogenom insulinu. Ova promena redosleda proizvodi brzo delujuči analog insulina. FDA je odobrila ovaj lek 1996.[3][4][5][6]
