Turska je pretežno brdovita zemlja sa kontinentalnom i planinskom klimom (leta su topla i suva, a zime relativno oštre). Graniči se sa Bugarskom i Grčkom na severozapadu, Gruzijom, Jermenijom i Iranom na istoku, Irakom na jugoistoku i Sirijom na jugu. Izlazi na Crno, Mramorno i Sredozemno more, a izlazi i na dva važnija plovidbena puta, moreuza, Bosfor i Dardaneli.
