Mercury Prize

Nagrada Mercury (Mercury Prize), nekad poznata kao Muzička nagrada Mercury a trenutno, zbog sponzorskih razloga, pod službenim nazivomNagrada Nationwide Mercury, je godišnja nagrada za najbolji muzički album u Ujedinjenom Kraljevstvu i Irskoj. Godine 1992. su je ustanovili BPI i BARD (Britansko udruženje prodavača ploča) kao alternativu nagradama BRIT kojima dominira muzička industrija. Prvotno ju je sponzorirala nekadašnja telekomunikacijska kompanija Mercury, od 1998. godine Technics da bio od 2004. sponzor bio Nationwide Building Society.

Često se navodi kako bendovi koji su nominirani ili doiju nagradu bilježe nagli porast prodaje ploča, a što je pogotovo slučaj s manje poznatim bendovima. Nominacije određuje posebno odarbrana komisija direktora izdavačkih kuća u UK i Republici Irskoj. Nagrada Mercury je također poznata po tome što nju češće dobijaju autsajderi nego favoriti.
