Lindisfarne je plimni otok kraj sjeveroistočne obale Engleske. Također je poznat po neslužbenim imenom Holy Island (Sveti Otok) te predstavlja civilnu parohiju grofovije Northumberland. U anglosaksonska vremena je bio poznat pod staroengleskim imenom Lindisfarena,[1] which means "[island of the] travellers from Lindsey",[2] zbog čega neki historičari špekuliraju da su prvi stanovnici došli iz Kraljevine Lindsay u ranom srednjem vijeku.[3] Godine 2001. je otok imao 162 stanovnika.[4] Otok je poznat kao duhovno središte sjeverne Engleske u ranom srednjem vijeku, što je status koji je uživao zahvaljujući tamo osnovanom samostanu.
