Istorija predmeta
Deutsch: Von den Landesherrschaften in dem bis 1794 territorial stark zersplitterten Gebiet sind nur die bedeutendsten im Wappen vertreten. Der blaue Löwe war Zeichen der Grafen von Veldenz, der Vorgänger der Fürsten von Pfalz-Zweibrücken, der silberne das der Grafen von Nassau-Zweibrücken. Unter Wegfall der Kreuzchen wurden die zwei Löwen verschmolzen. Aus dem Lothringer Adlerwappen stammen Rot und Gold. Die Lilie deutet auf St. Wendel und damit auf den Namen des Kreises hin.
English: The present district of Sankt Wendel has a very complicated history. The district was divided in many small part, each of these parts belonged to a different territory. Therefore only the arms of the main territories are combined in the arms of the district. The blue lion is the lion of the Counts of Veldenz, the silver lion the lion of Nassau-Saarbrücken. The colours red and gold in the escutcheon are taken from the arms of Lorraine. The fleur-de-lis is taken from the arms of the city of Sankt Wendel.
